Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was promoted to the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
